After chapter one you will be able to reclass/re-distribute everything so don't worry about that.Īlso make sure to dump as many points as you can into thievery on as many characters as you feel is reasonable. Try messing around until you find a team that works for ya because Fort Joy is probably the best time to experiment. Though, I guess I'd recommend starting with a 1-handed knight/paladin, a mage with a focus in both Aero and Hydro (they work well together, good crowd-control options, when your mage is finally able to pierce the magic armor and healing), a summoner (you can really pair them with anything, be it melee or ranged, a friend literally tried every variation and remained pretty strong), and a wayfarer (ranger with points in geo).īecause there are spells that don't rely on intelligence points, it would be wise to give your paladin some points in hydro/geo/poly later on (don't sleep on polymorph, it's my favourite class has and some really great spells) so he's able to cast stuff like fortify, armor of frost (basically spells that grant/regen armors). If the enemies burn the oil, use rain to clear out the fire with your healer dude (he should have this skill - if not there's a lizard dude near the entrance to Fort Joy that sells Hydrosophist skillbooks).Įverything works, some just a little better than others, just gotta experiment and feel comfortable with the party's strengths and weaknesses. If you get a chance, where you have to slow down an enemy running towards your squishies, just drop it so that the oil slows 'em down. Keep you squishies back, and since you have a ranger/wayfarer try sending him on the scaffolds on the left side of the room (use your teleportation gloves, and if you haven't gotten those yet - go fight the alligators).Įdit: I forgot about the oil barrels, you can also teleport them in combat. You can also sneak up and cast a heal on the dude on the floor, if you can keep him alive you'll get a story tidbit later, but he serves as a decent distraction. It's possible to cheese this fight by having one of your characters talk to the Magister that summons the dog, and attack the rest with the other party members. Try switching out the two hander for a one hand + shield, the shield up skill is really useful. You don't really have a tanky character (that, most importantly, can't armor up again) and environmental damage can stack quickly for low armor party members. Every little bit of experience helps, and you get experience for finding areas as well.įor the fight you're referring to, it's gonna be a little rough going because of your party make up. I advise you to explore all nooks and crannies (there's some decent starter armor hidden around), and fight as many enemies that you can find so your level remains the highest it can be in Fort Joy. Secondly, the start of the game is pretty difficult. Restarting the game was probably my favourite part of the game (did it like 10-15 times to get a character I was comfortable with). If you feel you need to lower the difficulty to get a hand of the mechanics, do so, it'll help out in the long run. I'm level 3.Īm I supposed to feel like this? Does it get better? Am I doing something wrong?įelt the same way when I originally started this game.

My party is 2 hander soldier, fire wizard, heal cleric, and rogue archer. I constantly have this nagging feeling that I am doing/have done something wrong, but I don't know what. It just feels like I'm extremely weak, and these enemies are super powered and have amazing skills. It just forces me to constantly mash the quick save/quick load button. Honestly, biggest sticking point is this stupid resurrection scrolls. I'm just in this narrow ass corridor, getting pelted constantly. Dude summons a dog which instantly teleports behind me.

Archers fucking blasting me with fire arrows. There are a bunch of magisters questioning some dead dude.įuck this fight man. I finally reached a roadblock where you have to go underground to escape fort joy. Not only that, fucking death can only be revived with scrolls? Fuck me, I only have like 1 left. That includes usually one party member dead and scrolls used.

EVERY SINGLE BATTLE I get by the skin of my teeth. I don't know if I just suck or what, but this fucking game is brutal. I bought Divinity: Original Sin 2 because of all the high praise it got.

So I'm playing a bunch of PC games that I've always wanted to check out. I'm not a big PC gamer at all, but I thought, "Shit, might as well spend $500 more and get a decent gaming PC that'll last me a while". So I got a brand new computer about 2 weeks ago after my ancient one literally died on me.
